BACC Art Talk 2017 “Lesson Abroad Series” 2

The second Art Talk of BACC of “Lesson Abroad Series” will be on 27th of July (Thursday), led by Ms. Margaret Shiu, the founder of the Bamboo Curtain Studio, New Taipei City, which is a major model of Asian and international circles for its active role in promoting an exchange program on contemporary arts, as well as in conserving and regenerating a new context for old valuable architectural spaces through art and creative activities. 
 
Despite her background on Economics, Margaret Shiu has advocated for international cultural exchanges and reuse of space as art facilities for urban regeneration. Due to her many contacts in the central administration, this prominent Taiwanese cultural activist has succeeded in saving lots of interesting old industrial buildings for creative space for art. As the director of an alternative space, the Bamboo Curtain Studio, she has activated many issues on artist´s role in cultural, social and environmental development and has networked with various international art organizations for research and collaborations.
 
This program is suitable for those with an interest in architectural regeneration with activities, cultural management with collaborative strategies and cultural exchange programs. Besides the subject other own organization and personal experiences, the speaker will share the context of contemporary art & culture scenes of Taiwan, and open the floor to the audience to both share and ask questions. 
 
BACC has organized the Art Talk program for three years. The 2017 series is held under the theme “Lesson Abroad”, with the focus on major movements, trends, lessons, experiences and strategies of the international circle of art & culture management. These can be a useful case study for local audiences to reflect on the current Thai scene. Both local and international speakers will join in at least three events in this years’ series. 
 
**Lecture is conducted in English, with Thai translation and free of charge
