About the activity
 
The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre invites those interested in sound design to join us in experimenting with designing music from environmental stimuli together. This is aimed at laying the groundwork for developing potential in the professional fields of artists and sound designers in the future, such as sound designers for films, game sound designers, and music industry sound creators, among others. This event is part of the Cityscape: Sound & Sense workshop, a segment of the educational activities accompanying the exhibition               "Bangkok 242 a Space for Sharing" on Saturday, May 11th! Participants will learn skills in creating musical sounds, storytelling through sound, as well as observing and being aware of different sound characteristics influenced by the environment. This will be achieved through hands-on sound design, from recording to selecting sounds, and ultimately applying creativity to convey stories through sound. Guidance will be provided by guest speaker, Mr. Pakorn Musikaboonlert, a photographer and film music composer, one of the artists behind the work "The Visual and Sounds of Bangkok City’s Vibration (2024)" in the "Bangkok 242" exhibition on the 8th floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

- People who are interested in the art of sound design, who want to learn about the sounds of environments that impact internal conditions.
- People who are interested in learning about the impact of urban sounds and self-awareness.
- Sound artists and designers
 
Please bring the equipment according to the list below :
1. Audio recording equipment (such as tape recorders, smartphones, etc.)
2. Laptop + Midi Keyboard
3. Headphone monitors (Over-ear / In-ear) or regular headphones.
 
Required Software :
Participants must install the following programs on their laptops and have basic knowledge in using at least one of the programmes. The list is as follows:
-Logic Pro X
-Ableton Live
-Protools
-Garage Band
or any preferred digital audio workstations
