Pathumwan Art Routes - PARs
An Arts and Cultural project in the Pathumwan district and the Ban Krua Community

You are invited to the press conference to the launch of the PARs project on Tuesday 11 August 2020, from 14:00 - 15:00 pm. Registration is at 13:30 pm. at the Multi-Function Room, 1st Floor, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC)

Pathumwan Art Routes (PARs Project), a collaborative project between art and culture institutions and nearby communities, including the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Jim Thompson House Museum, Jim Thompson Art Center, William Warren Library, Yelo House, Baan Krua Community, JWD Art Space, CU Art4C, FAAMAI Digital Arts Hub, Property Management of Chulalongkorn University and Chulalongkorn University Office of Art and Cultural, aiming to create a map of Art and Culture within the Pathumwan district and the Baan Krua community; and to alert Thai tourists and foreigners living in Thailand to tourist attractions that combine contemporary art, community ways of life and the rich cultural diversity of food.

The COVID-19 outbreak which has had an economic impact on all sectors, and this has led us to create a platform with communities to restore and distribute income. The emphasis  is on new art, and cultural tourism, which strengthens both the artistic and cultural communities in the Pathumwan district and the Baan Krua Community, the latter of which is a Muslim community that settled there in the early Rattanakosin period. We hope to create interest in the community to become a strong neighbourhood and an alternative cultural tourism destination, so that everyone can enjoy the arts, learn the local ways of life and relish a variety of food in this district, with its group of art galleries and museums, located in the home community of the Pathumwan intersection, Sam Yan and Banthat Thong.

This project is a collaboration between the government, private and community organisations to promote sustainable cultural tourism. The local community has great potential to create new cultural tourism (New Normal), especially with visitors learning and spending time in the communities with the people. Focusing on the selection of knowledge in contemporary art combined with the culture of local communities, this will help strengthen the communities in term of contemporary art, art and culture and food, and help to enhance the circulation of both Thai and foreign tourists. This project will include various activities in different venues such as exhibitions, talks, workshops, etc. and visitors can access all the art spaces in the Pathumwan district and the Baan Krua community throughout the project period, with ongoing activities until 31 December 2020.

Pathumwan Art Routes Project (PARs Project) is open to visitors according to the date and times of each venue (some venues may require an entrance fee), opening time is from 09:00 am. - 20:00 pm.
