By Branch of Art Education, Department of Art, Music, and Dance Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn UniversityThe project of “The Art Exhibition under the Supervision: DRIFT-for-REND” is the display of the works of individual art created by the 5th – year students studying in 2736455 Supervised Study in Art Education, which is the final course before graduation. All of the works displayed have been produced from the harmony of skills, knowledge, and process of art production in which the students are interested and excel. Moreover, this operational process has been supervised by academic advisors in order to receive the perfect productions of students’ individual art.
The main theme of individual art creation was scrutinized from brainstorming in student seminar until the idea of difference was finalized and brought to be the title of the exhibition, “DRIFT-for-REND”.
As “DRIFT-for-REND” is adapted from “difference”, it conveys three meanings from three words: drift, for, and rend. “Drift” means a slow change or development from one opinion or one point to another. “Rend” means to tear or to rip. When “drift”, “for”, and “rend” combine together, they convey one meaning; that is ripping apart the traditional walk of life to have a change into something new.
In addition, “The Art Exhibition under the Supervision: DRIFT-for-REND” is not only the demonstration of students’ works on individual art, but also the transmission of art appreciation or aesthetics to the audience who participate in the Exhibition through an art workshop held by the students. This is the way for the students to apply knowledge in art study to event organizing and to experience in creating the works of art for the public, as well.
