The Yellow Bus Project investigated a community space, natural space, and also provincial people’s way of life in various districts (amphoe) in Chiangmai. Students were divided into 5 groups, each group consists of at least one student who was originally Northern and able to speak in Northern dialectic with local people. After that, each group of students selected sites of study which are Fang, Mae Chaem, Mae Wang, Samoeng, and Chiang Dao.

 

Students were surveying the selected area thoroughly in order to understand folk life, culture, environment, and then, gathering all experience and information from the journey, such as conversation, photograph, as a general resource. This project is aimed at encouraging non-native students to learn and to be acquainted with a culturally different environment. Moreover, a communication locals and visitors include with a further research of some interesting issues or/and problems inspired a work of art.

 

The Yellow Bus Project, part of Experimental Art course, eventually becomes “Sky Train Project” when the same group of students coming to the city, exploring Bangkok through the method they once used in Chiangmai, and showing their ongoing project at BACC.
